When we travel to another country and need to rent a car, we always wonder: how is driving there? If this is your question or you’re feeling unsure, don’t worry! The answer is: it’s much easier than in most other countries! 😄
Wide highways, clear signs, respect on the road, and even spacious parking spots… that’s the reality of driving in Florida! Just turn on your GPS, and you’re good to go. We’ve already shared some driving tips here, but we’ve got a few more to help you feel even more prepared.
1. Stop Sign: Here, the STOP sign is taken seriously, so don’t just slow down. It’s a full stop! Stop completely, count to three, and go when it’s safe. Even if no one is coming, make sure you stop properly.
2. Right Turn: If the light is red but you want to turn right, go ahead! It’s allowed, unless there’s a sign that says “NO TURN ON RED LIGHT”. Just keep an eye out for that.
3. Speed Limit: Although you won’t see speed cameras everywhere, it’s super important to follow the speed limit! Each lane has its own limit, and the police are always around to make sure everyone follows the rules. Drive carefully to avoid fines and hassles during your trip.
4. Parking: Since cars here don’t have front plates, don’t park in reverse unless it’s in a designated space. You could get a ticket for that. Better safe than sorry.
5. School Bus: Watch out for school buses. If one is stopped, with its lights flashing and the stop sign out, you must stop. Wait for the kids to get off and the bus to start moving before you go. It’s an important rule here.
6. Tolls: If you’re a Fivefive customer, just drive through the tolls without worrying! 🚗💨 Our cars come with an automatic toll payment system, whether it’s E-pass or SunPass. We’ve got you covered. Book your car with us here!
7. GPS: Our favorite recommendation is Waze! It helps you find toll-free routes, nearby places, and much more. So handy! Oh, and if you want extra peace of mind, you can book Wi-Fi on board to stay connected and never get lost!
Now you’re all set to drive like a local! 😃 And don’t forget, your driver’s license is valid here as long as it’s up to date for the duration of your trip.
